Hello + hi!
We’re back with another insightful contribution from this month’s guest, clinical Western herbalist Melanie Hill. ICYMI, Melanie shared her curated spring herb resource list last week—highlighting the unique properties and practical uses of her nine favourite herbs for the season 🌱
Today, Melanie will be taking us through the Liver and Gall Bladder meridians, along with five key acupressure points to help activate and support their flow.
In TCM, meridians are the body’s energetic pathways—channels that carry Qi, the vital life force. By stimulating specific points, whether through acupressure, acupuncture—or even tools like the ever-popular Shakti mat—we can encourage the smooth movement of Qi and support overall harmony in the body.
So let’s dive in:
Two Meridians for Spring
Liver Meridian
The Liver meridian begins at the lateral side of the big toe; the side closest to your pinky toe. It runs up the top of the foot, to the medial (inner) aspect of the leg through the groin, around the genital area, the stomach and the physical Liver area (upper right portion of abdomen), then over to the intercostal (rib) area.
I find massaging this area, or applying gentle pressure or gua sha, especially along the lower inner leg can be very supportive in the spring.
